At St Francis Church we have a dedicated team of Catechists and helpers, on rota, to lead our Children’s liturgy, which takes

place during Holy Mass each Sunday in school term time. The children are divided into three age groups, 4 to 5 years, 6 to 8

years and 9 to 11 years of age, each in their own room with a Catechist and adult helper.

Each Sunday, at the beginning of Holy Mass, Fr. Kevin invites the children to go out to celebrate the Gospel readings in a special

way, with their own age group. The children return to the mass as part of the offertory procession.

During the Children’s Liturgy the Catechists use a variety of activities including stories, games, drama and craft to help

the children to explore their faith through the life of Jesus and his Good News. The children are encouraged to share their

ideas and ask questions as we explore our Catholic beliefs together.

Parents are welcome to stay with their children if necessary and will be included on the group register of names taken

each Sunday. All Catechists and helpers on rota are CRB checked.
